About GGB Foundation
The GGB Foundation was born out of a deeply felt need in our own community — a need for connection, celebration, and safety for LGBTQ+ individuals and families, especially in outdoor and rural spaces where affirmation is often lacking.
What began as a small group of LGBTQ+ friends looking to create safe camping trips quickly grew into a vibrant network of queer adventurers, families, artists, and advocates. We saw firsthand how many LGBTQ+ people — especially those who are isolated, low-income, or estranged from family — lacked access to affirming spaces where they could simply be themselves.
Campfires became support circles. Drag shows under the stars became platforms for empowerment. Holiday dinners became lifelines for chosen family.
Out of these shared experiences, we realized this was more than just a social group — it was a movement. We founded the GGB Foundation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to formally respond to the needs we witnessed: the desire for visibility, joy, safety, support, and connection in the outdoors.
Today, we continue to build on that grassroots spirit with programs that uplift, heal, and unite LGBTQ+ individuals and families across the country — one campsite, one meal, one show, and one spark of hope at a time.
